Since they live 'just north of London' I hadn't been able to visit all year. So come Mayweek (in June) it was about time to take a trip to the far flung corners of Cambridge to see where they'd been hiding out. Alistair organised a dinner for a few of us churchill buddies. The mad ones cycled but luckily Mr Drake had his car up so I got a lift. I was happy to make it there safely since earlier in the week Mr Drake tried to turn right onto a roundabout when instructed by his navigator to "turn right".
Richard and Alistair cooked us a nice dinner and proved that since moving out of halls and having to cater for themselves they have vastly improved their cooking skills. After dinner we had great fun washing up and larking about in the kitchen. However, our ability to amuse ourselves with a darts set and 3 juggling balls didn't last long and the boys set of in search of more entertainment, finding a kiddies slingshot set in the cupboard under the stairs. Ditching the nice soft sponge balls provided with the set the boys prefered to use the juggling balls as
amunition, which they started to fire at each other as hard as they could. They set up a game where 2 people stood in the kitchen and tried to hit the others as they darted past the kitchen door. All except Richard that is, who kept putting away the dishes and tidying up with an "i'm not amused" expression on his face. They were having great fun until a mis-directed shot accidentally hit me, the only girl, in the stomach. You should have seen their faces! Quickly leaving that game behind we headed outside to end the evening with a game of frizbee in the dark...
